9 - 12 year olds make their own art books

In one of our art classes for 9 - 12 year old artists, students learned how to make accordion books featuring their own artwork. Our students were led by the talented Colleen Stone who recently joined Cloud 9 Art School.

Students started off by painting papers. This was an exercise in playing with color, collage, and stamps. These papers would later be used to create the book covers and to cut into “little paintings” for the pages of the book.

Then it was time to create covers for their books and cut up the painted papers for the pages of the book. The “little paintings” were then adhered to the black accordion style pages.

The last step was to embellish with final marks. Everyone created a great book to take home. So fun!

Choosing a Word of the Year is a wonderful way to bring focus to your life and help you stay on track with your plans and goals for 2020. One powerful word can be the perfect visual reminder of what you hope to accomplish and what's most important in your life.

We'll use pretty paper and paint to create a beautiful piece of art to hold your chosen word and to brighten your home.

If you haven't chosen your Word of the Year for 2020 by the start of class, I will provide some activities to help you find one that fits.

 No previous experience necessary. 

 What to bring: 
a sack lunch
3-5 different sheets of your favorite patterned paper (such as scrapbooking or gift wrapping paper)
1 or 2  favorite magazines you're willing to cut up.

Limited to 10 students.
