One of the most enjoyable ways to begin to explore your creativity is by playing in an art journal. It’s a private place where you can try out different kinds of paint and markers and inks. You can draw or just make marks. You can glue in other paper and create new layers. You can write your private thoughts and dreams and then hide them all under a beautiful layer of paint! You can even paint over it all and start again.

But what kind of journal do you buy? There are so many choices!

That used to have me stuck too. And then I found the answer.

You make your own!

And because I know that a nice new journal is filled with blank, white, scary pages, the journal I’ll show you how to make will start out with pages filled with lovely color and texture to get you jumping into art- making fearlessly!

I call these journals Jump Start Art Journals.

Let’s get your 2020 art journey started!

Together we’ll build big chunky art journals from scratch. To jump start your art adventure, we will begin by creating lots of pages filled with color to inspire you and to hold all of your future ideas, thoughts, dreams, and experiments. We’ll create beautiful color drenched covers and bind it all together into a portable studio you can take with you anywhere!

Your Jump Start Journal will become your go-to space to try out all of those art supplies you’ve been collecting. It will be your perfectly imperfect space for practicing composition and learning which colors play well together. It will be your private place to play and explore.

Along the way, I will share:

·My favorite tools for applying paint

·The paints and markers I use in my own artwork

·How to create layer upon layer of beautiful color without making mud

·How to build and bind a sturdy book for any use

·Simple ways to create texture and contrast

·Lots of ways to personalize your pages and continue your artful journey

All supplies included. Please bring lunch for yourself.
