Girl Scouts earn Jeweler Badge
Look at these lovely creations by one of the Girl Scout troops who recently earned their Jeweler Badge at Cloud 9!
We started the workshop picking a wild animal or rock to use as the focal point for our necklaces. We then picked different colors of sculpey to coordinate with our rock or animal. The girls learned how to make “marbled” beads with the different colors of sculpey. We wrapped our rocks and animals with thin wire to hold them secure. The girls picked one of their favorite beads along with some others to add to their necklaces. Each girl got to use real tools of the trade (cutters, flat and round nose pliers) to finish off their necklaces adding jump rings and clasps.
After necklaces each girl got to create a couple different friendship bracelets while putting their new plier skills to use adding crimp cord ends to make them look more polished.
We love them all! The workshop was led by the amazing Emily Brown, who we love having at the school! Thank you Emily and thank you Girl Scouts for all the creative joy!
