This workshop is all about creating beautiful illustrations in our sketchbooks which beam with positivity, light and hope. Sketching and illustrating in a sketchbook, whether it’s stories, poems or ideas, is a fantastic way to loosen up, to draw quickly, to play and experiment. It allows you to shake off any perfectionist ideals and create from the heart with a light hand and sprinkles of humor. Besides sketching, I will also cover some basics - animal character development, composition, building pictures and more. Main focus will be drawing animals, however you are welcome to draw human figures or other characters as well.

“Almost all creativity involves purposeful play.” A. Maslow.

HOW IT WORKS:

Each week I will send out an email with an invitation to Zoom, along with inspirational prompts such as excerpt from a story and/or reference images. I will show you examples; a quick presentation on illustration concepts/principles; a video on how to create that day’s exercise and then we sit and draw together. You are welcome to email me images of progress during class so that you can receive feedback as you go.

WHAT YOU NEED:

A sketchbook (for wet media would be ideal) or your favorite paper which later can be turned into a sketchbook, graphite pencil, few color pencils for sketching, pen(s), watercolors or gouache, eraser, sharpener, any pens, markers or supplies you have at home.

BONUS: By signing up for any of my classes, you get invited to a private Facebook group where you can find more inspiration, more instructional videos as well as art community support. This group is only for my students. A safe space for sharing and feedback.
