All levels welcome.

Online using Zoom.

If you’re a beginner or would like to refresh your artistic knowledge about seeing and drawing forms/still life, this is a workshop for you. First you’ll observe, study and draw all the basic forms: cylinder, sphere, cone, cube. Second, you’ll learn how to see & understand an object/form/still life and then draw it. How do you draw an ellipse and how big should it be? How do you draw a teapot or a glass? How do you draw more than one object? How do you draw more than one object? I will answer all your questions. You will also learn about point of view, some perspective, composition as well as light and shadow. Draw from photos or from a still life in front of you.

HOW IT WORKS:

Before the workshop starts I will send out a ZOOM invite for all our lesson together, including reference images for you to work from. I will show you examples of how to draw with graphite, how to see values and form, plus a video on how to create that day’s exercise. Then we sit and draw together. During class you can email me images of your artwork so that I can give you feedback and advice where needed. We can learn a lot from one another so it’s always wonderful to show your work to others. I strive to make this workshop very interactive.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Drawing paper or bristol paper smooth (great for blending).
Graphite pencils - ideally a set with hard and soft pencils (H and B range)
Eraser - variety is always nice: putty eraser, tombow mono zero 2.3 eraser
Sharpener
Blending stick
