This five-week class is intended to get the basics firmly in place and leave room for each artist to incorporate their own style and medium once they have completed the class. All aspects of painting a dog with pastels will be explored including image selection, initial sketches and rough drawings, using pastels as a medium and ultimately capturing the animal's personality. A sequel to the class, painting a cat in pastel, will be offered after completion of this class. Students may take the skills learned in the class to the next level and may choose from the full five weeks or if confident about what they have learned in this course, skip to the third through fifth week of Pet Portraits (Cats).

Please note that for this class we will all be working from the image provided and not on our individual pet portraits. The image shown with this class description will be our class project.

A supply list and photo reference will be sent to students prior to class. Some supplies will be included in the class, others will be the responsibility of the student.
