If you’ve been curious about drawing with ballpoint pens - this is a workshop for you! You’ll learn about drawing with different pen pressures, techniques, layering of colors and shading of forms. Ballpoint Pens are essentially an office supply, but can create fantastic and vibrant results. You will be able to choose from 3 or 4 images what you would like to draw that day: fruit, vegetables, leaves or flowers. Walk away with a fun vibrant ballpoint pen drawing plus lots of skills to carry on creating on your own!

HOW IT WORKS:

Before class you will receive an email with an invitation to Zoom, along with some reference images for you to work from and step by step sheets. During class we will watch a couple of demos, we’ll play together to get to know the pens and then, draw. This will be an interactive class so you’ll be able to ask questions and receive feedback/critiques from Maja. After the class you’ll receive a recording of the workshop so that you can review anything you might have missed.

WHAT YOU NEED:

A Stillman & Birn Zeta sketchbook is fantastic for this (hotpress paper in general). But normal drawing paper and/or even printer paper will work too.

Pens: Ideally 3 Bic Ballpoint pens (4 colors in 1 pen) - 1. dark green, dark blue, red, black. 2. pink, purple, light blue, light green 3. yellow, orange, pink, purple. The yellow Pen is most difficult pen to find. If you do not have yellow, you will be able to draw an image which matches the colors you do have. Good place to look: Office Depot.

Other: pencil, eraser, sharpener.

BONUS:

By signing up for any of my classes, you are invited to a private Facebook community where you can find more inspiration, more instructional videos as well as art feedback and support. This is a safe space, only for my students, for sharing and feedback. Also, FREE open studio on Tuesday evenings. Email invites sent out at the beginning of every month.
