Watercolor & Pen Trees with Maja Sereda

Saturday January 23
1pm - 4pm (Pacific Time)

One day workshop

$45

All levels

Online using Zoom.
(For more information about how to use Zoom, click here.)

This workshop is all about bringing together love of drawing with pens and spontaneous personality of watercolors. You are going to create watercolor washes on hot press paper and then draw trees/nursing logs with pens. You will be able to draw with your favorite pens: micron pens, black ballpoint pen or pentel hybrid technica pens.

HOW IT WORKS:

Before the workshop starts I will send out a ZOOM invite for all our lesson together, including reference images for you to work from. I will show you examples of how to create watercolor washes, how to draw different techniques plus a video on how to create that day’s exercise. Then we sit and paint/draw together. During class you can email me images of your artwork so that I can give you feedback and advice where needed. We can learn a lot from one another so it’s always wonderful to show your work to others. I strive to make this workshop very interactive.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Hot press paper - arches hot press paper or fabriano artistico hot press paper (artwork examples are no larger than 6x8”)
Watercolors - your favorite colors or a travel kit. I have Daniel Smith, Winsor & Newton and Sennelier sets.
Large and medium watercolor brush.
Cup for water. Paper towels. Hairdryer to speed up drying time. Plastic wrap/cling film (optional). Artist tape.
Pens: Micron pens, Pentel Hybrid Technica Pen 0.3 (it’s not waterproof), Bic or Zebra F301 black ballpoint pen. You are welcome to choose your favorite.

BONUS:

By signing up for any of my classes, you are invited to a private Facebook community where you can find more inspiration as well as art feedback and support. This is a safe space, only for my students, for sharing and feedback. Also, FREE open studio on Tuesday evenings. Email invites are sent out at the beginning of every month.
