6 week course

$210

All levels welcome

If you’ve been yearning to pick up a pen, but have found yourself a little intimidated by the fact that it doesn’t erase, then this is the course for you! Maja will show you basic steps, demonstrate a variety of pen techniques and encourage you along the way to make your creative experience smoother. In this course you’ll learn to draw contour lines but also observe & draw textures, strengthen your understanding of form and discover how to create tonal values through mark making while drawing botanical forms: flowers, leaves, lichen, mushrooms, pine cones, seeds and fruit. Create your first pen masterpieces in a sketchbook and/or on individual sheets of paper!

HOW IT WORKS:

Online using Zoom.
(For more information about how to use Zoom, click here.)

Each week I will send out an email with an invitation to Zoom, along with some reference images for you to work from. I will show you examples of artworks, a video on how to create that day’s exercise and then we sit and draw together. Of course you are welcome to draw from your own picture. You can email me images of your artwork so that I can give you feedback and advice where needed. I’m happy to do a live review of everyone’s work. We can learn a lot from one another.

WHAT YOU NEED:

A sketchbook (for wet media) - white and/or toned paper, and/or paper for wet media such as Paper for pens or Bristol paper for pens. Nice to have: Tracing paper is fantastic to practice on.

Pens: Copic Multiliner or Micron pens - 0.3, 0.5 (optional 0.1 for very thin line, 0.8 for thick lines), color ball point pen such as Bic pens or Zebra F301 pens. I also like Pentel Arts Hybrid Technica 0.3. Brush pen is optional.

Other: pencil, eraser, sharpener.

Optional: watercolors and a brush to add a bit of color to your drawings.

BONUS:

By signing up for any of my classes, you are invited to a private Facebook community where you can find more inspiration, more instructional videos as well as art feedback and support. This is a safe space, only for my students, for sharing and feedback. Also, FREE open studio on Tuesday evenings. Email invites sent out at the beginning of every month.

Please email Maja if you have any questions.
