Thursdays, 10am - 12:30pm (Pacific time)

March 3 - March 31

$195

Online using Zoom.

All levels welcome.

This workshop is all about drawing animals, more specifically weird, ugly or odd, full of character and somewhat beautiful creatures. You will learn how to see and draw animal forms, how to draw skin, fur or scales textures, how to shade and create drawings which are full of fun and character. This workshop is mixed media, so graphite, color pencils, pens and watercolor. Choose one or do them all!

Normally I send reference images but this time please search for your own (see list below). Please also write down the source or where the image comes from. It’s best to use royalty free images but it may not be possible for this class. These drawings will be created for our own pleasure and not to be exhibited or sold unless you have permission from the photographer.

For reference images, a nice book to buy or look for at the library is The Photo Ark by Joel Sartore (National Geographic).

HOW IT WORKS:

Before the workshop starts I will send out a ZOOM invite for all our lessons together and an example of what we are drawing each week. During class I will show you examples of artworks, demo techniques and also create art pieces for you to either follow or be inspired by. Then we sit and paint/draw together. During class you can email me images of your artwork so that I can give you feedback and advice where needed. We can learn a lot from one another so it’s always wonderful to show your work to others. I strive to make this workshop very interactive.
