Designed to inspire students to sketch their world, this course will focus on mastering techniques to capture the moments that catch our attention: objects, people, and settings. Weather permitting we will go out and sketch at cafes, parks, etc.

We will work in graphite pencil, ink and watercolor.

Should things go back to feeling unsafe, this course will be taught online using Zoom.

A sketchbook can have many roles in an artist’s practice but mostly, in this workshop, I hope to encourage you to use sketchbooking as a way to be creative every day.

Each of the lessons of our workshop offers drawing practice exercises, introduces a new material or technique, or challenges you to work on a particular theme. You will get a creative workout, but in a relaxed, supportive setting, where experimentation and play are encouraged while techniques and observation are emphasized.
